Properties |
Sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) is colorless, odorless, nontoxic, nonflammable and noncorrosive gaseous substance under normal conditions, with strong chemical stability, good electric insulation property and excellent arc extinguishing property. Its electric resistance is 2.5 times of that of nitrogen under the same pressure. Its breakdown voltage is 2.5 times of that of air, and is the same as that of oil at 0.25Mpa. Under same conditions, its start voltage of corona discharge is 2 times of that of air. Therefore, it is a new generation of supervoltage insulating medium material better than air and oil. |
